Guest speaker Raewyn Peart, Policy Director for the Environmental Defence Society (EDS), will be speaking about the current changes to our environmental policies and how this affects the Long Bay Okura Marine Reserve and coastline.

For over four decades EDS has been fighting for the protection of the New Zealand environment, developing policy, litigating environmentally significant cases, and advancing education through publications and conferences. Raewyn Peart has been at the forefront of this work. She has a background in law and economics, a long list of publications to her name, many dealing with the marine environment, and plays a major role in the annual EDS conferences that bring together environmental groups, government agencies, academics, the business community and politicians for the advancement of environmental protection. We look forward to hearing Raewyn’s take on the worrisome Fast-track Approvals Bill.
